Historic Charleston

So much has been said about Charleston, but Rhett Butler summed it up best when he said, ‘I'm going back to Charleston, back where I belong. I want peace. I want to see if somewhere there isn't something left in life of charm and grace.’  Charleston truly is full of charm and grace with gourmet dining, horse drawn carriages, antebellum mansions, the smiling faces keep Charleston consistently named one of the Friendliest Cities in America. Tour homes where the Father of our great country, George Washington, slept; explore the alleyways leading to stately manicured Southern gardens; stand on Broad Street at the Four Corners of Law and listen to the bells of St. Michaels; take a step back into time and tour the by foot hearing stories of pirates and our beloved ghosts.   So many things to do and to see and to explore, Charleston is a fantastic city that will find it’s way into your heart and keep you coming back.

Just outside the city of Charleston you will see evidence of her proud history as well as the history of our nation.  Each of the plantations offers guests a unique experience.  Visit Middleton with its man made butterfly lake, Magnolia and her Audubon swamp, Boone Hall’s cotton dock, and learn about the preservation of Drayton Hall.  These show the elegance and grace of a way of life that is fondly remembered.  Fort Sumter is Charleston’s most visited historical site.  Take a boat to the fort and learn about the start of the Civil War and how this fort protected Charleston from enemy forces.  Patriots Point is a naval wartime museum, home of The Yorktown.  Complete with airplanes and helicopters, this museum will keep men of all ages fascinated.
